Kretzer Piano was started in 1985 by Kathi Kretzer. She was awarded the Business Leader of the Year Award by the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Person of the Year Award from the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches and the Women in Leadership Award from Executive Women of the Palm Beaches.
Kretzer Piano has been a true partner with the community:
On the third Tuesday of every month, Kretzer Piano presents a concert series called “Music for the Mind” in the Harriet Himmel Theater in CityPlace. Since 2002, the concerts have featured over 7,200 local music students and have raised over $184,000 for music education and youth music groups in Palm Beach and Martin County schools, all this while holding the ticket prices at $5 for students and $10 for adults.
A group of music students called “Kretzer Kids” take turns entertaining at nursing homes and assisted living facilities throughout Palm Beach County. The group is comprised of students from local schools who have actually worked with music therapists from Hospice to learn how to relate to the patients. They perform classical, popular, jazz and religious music to the delight of the patients. The program is funded by Kretzer Piano.
