TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Playing the piano is more than playing the notes: it enhances brain development; it builds the character skills of self-discipline and mastery; and through performance, builds self-esteem and confidence.  My degree in Music Education and 30 years experience in piano instruction have enabled me to discover what motivates each of my students so that they experience the gift of self-expression through music.  A comprehensive program with emphasis on note reading, technique development, music theory, ear training, artistic interpretation and expression is tailored to meet each student's assessed competencies, developmental level and, most importantly, their personality!

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I strongly believe that playing the piano enriches anybody’s life, regardless of age, experience, background or ability.  I have been teaching since 2006 and I love my job.

I believe a good teacher should be patient, energetic, happy, encouraging, knowledgeable and dependable.

My goal for each lesson is to develop in a student the love and respect for the instrument and appreciation for the music.

When a student can’t wait to go home after a lesson to practice what she learned and then can’t wait to come back to show me what she accomplished during that week, I know I did my job well.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I believe that every person has the ability to learn music. We all have a “musical mind” that grows as we continue to practice music and study a multifaceted music curriculum. That is why I use teaching methods that engage students and involve them in music making so that they continue to grow their “musical mind” and progress towards becoming well-rounded musicians. As Carl Orff once stated: “Tell me, I forget; Show me, I remember; Involve me, I understand.” I teach music this way so that my students can share in the same love and appreciation that I have for music.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

When taking a music lesson a student should never feel stressed or uncomfortable. He or she should feel at home with the teacher so this way they are only thinking oabout the wonderful experience they are about to encounter. Music elevates the mathematical side of the brain and incorporates both sides of the brain with reference to dexterity and a spiritual beauty of what music brings to your life. So come and take lessons from me or my staff and fulfill your dreams.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I strive to teach my students an appreciation and love for music by creating an educational plan tailored to their learning style and goals. They will learn the basics of music notation, music theory and technique, while being encouraged to create their own songs. I focus on cultivating a fun and relaxed learning environment while still implementing structured lesson plans. My desire for my students is to enjoy playing, practicing and performing.

I began playing at the age of five with an emphasis in classical piano. As I continued my studies, I began exploring the world of music theory and harmony. From September 2015 to March 2016, I attended an intensive contemporary keyboard program at Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, California. I have been teaching piano for two years, both privately and at the Performing Arts Academy of Jupiter. I have also worked at summer camps and with voice teachers around Palm Beach Gardens and Jupiter.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

There are two major pillars of music education. The first is that learning must be enjoyable, and the second is that learning must be involved. I rest my philosophy on these two pillars and believe that they create the perfect recipe for students' success. I did not go in to the field of teaching piano to make a living; I came in to this field to help people live better. This is one of my favorite quotes I would like to share! "Some people come into our lives, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never the same." -Franz Schubert

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Piano began for me at age 7 and from childhood to graduate school, each teacher I studied with had a completely different approach to teaching. I took away something unique from each of them and applied it to my own teaching philosophy. A student is as individual as the music they will be learning. Be it classical, pop, blues or all three, its my job to listen to their preferences, give them guidance and introduce them to many different genres of music. Although structured, lessons must also be fun for the student. My goal is for them to leave their first lesson having learned a simple tune. This gives them confidence and motivates them to practice and prepare for their next lesson. Each lesson is different since there are a variety of activities to choose from like ear training, learning by rote, rhythmic drills, duets and improvisation. For me personally, learning piano translated into other valuable life skills; patience, confidence and sheer joy.
