TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

My teaching philosophy involves three principles. 1) Help the student enjoy the whole musical experience, both lessons and practice. 2) Foster understanding of the harmonic, structural and rhythmic implications in the pieces studied. 3) Encourage the student to learn as broad and extensive a repertoire as possible.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

I teach classical music with as much hands on approach as possible, I use games and other incentives to motivate the student. I also pick methods that I think will most enhance the students progress and interest. I believe that understanding theory is very important for the student to be able to sight read well, and whether it is written or done on the computer, doesn't matter as long as it is effective, The parent and I must work together to encourage the student to do their best. Positive reinforcement no matter how small is key to the student's success--whether they become a concert pianist or just want to enjoy it for themselves!!

Irwin SolomonJazz Piano Teacher, Performer & Accompanist

PHONE: 561-732-2192
LOCATION: Boynton Beach, FL

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Music should be enjoyable to learn - if it isn't what is the point of doing it?  I think the piano is a very large box of crayons - 88 different colors. What I try to do is teach the different ways to use these colors to achieve the musical picture. It's not the the number of notes that are played that is important - it's how the notes are used - thats what creates music.

In addition to teaching, Mr Solomon is available for performing, either as a solo pianist, or with a group, from as little as two musicians, to a complete seventeen piece big band. He is also an accomplished vocal and/or instrumental accompanist.
